As a compassionate lawyer with over 27 years of experience, Marcie L. Baker, Esq., P.A. firmly believes that trying to resolve the issues before taking legal action can save people both a lot of money and stress. However, Marcie is also able to help when legal action is necessary. That’s why she takes a collaborative approach with the client to help clarify and determine which steps should be taken to resolve matters based on each unique case.

Meet Our Team

Marcie Baker

Marcie Baker

Marcie L. Baker was born in South Bend, Indiana, and grew up traveling while her father served in the Army before settling in Tampa Bay, FL, in 1979. After 10 years in retail management, she pursued law, graduating cum laude from Stetson University College of Law in 1996 and joining the Florida Bar in 1997. Marcie began her legal career in Workers’ Compensation law, first representing claimants, then employers and carriers. In 2003, she founded her own law firm in Zephyrhills, focusing on Workers’ Compensation, Family Law, and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. A Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil (WC) and Family Law Mediator, Marcie is also deeply involved in the community, supporting Little League, Zephyrhills High School baseball, and Meals on Wheels, where she has served on the board since 2021. She is an active member of the Florida Bar, the U.S. Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the Tampa Bay Workers’ Compensation and Disability Inn of Court, the East Pasco Florida Bar Association, Next Gen Divorce, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP).

Brandy Rich

Brandy Rich is a Florida Registered Paralegal entering her 16th year at The Law Office of Marcie L. Baker, Esq., P.A. Known for her attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent client service, she is a native Floridian with a clear preference for warmer weather—so much so that she even influenced an office policy permitting jeans and boots when the temperature drops below 50 degrees. Outside of work, she enjoys quality time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Ruthie Ortiz

Ruthie Ortiz

Ruthie Ortiz is our office administrator, a role that encompasses so many tasks we cannot begin to list them. She is generally the first contact the public has with our office. Born in Puerto Rico, Ruthie has lived in Florida and the Tampa Bay Area since the age of 10. She is bilingual and often assists our Spanish-speaking clients. Ruthie is married to her husband, David, and they have two grown children and three grandchildren who keep her busy. Additionally, she has a large extended family in the area.

Sandy joined the firm at the end of 2019 to be our “ mediation  assistant and stress reducer”   She takes her job of meeting clients very seriously and expects attention and petting from all.
